MERLOT Awards: Application of MERLOT

MERLOT introduced two awards in fall 2007 that recognize those who demonstrate leadership in the use and application of MERLOT.

  • Innovative Use of MERLOT award is given to an individual, department, or program that demonstrates novel, comprehensive, or creative usage and/or application of MERLOT materials and services.  Nominees must provide evidence of an impact on students that can be demonstrated through qualitative or quantitative research or anecdotal evidence.  The impact on learning is valued above the impact on student interest.  Nominations are due by February 28th for the award that will be presented at the MERLOT International Conference.  The MERLOT Editors’ Council will determine the winner(s) (maximum of two each year) of the award. Contact Cathy Swift to receive an application for this award.

  • Institutional Stewardship award recognizes efforts to promote MERLOT at an institutional level.  MERLOT seeks to identify models that can be used to sustain support for MERLOT and that demonstrate the value of MERLOT.  Recipients of the award will be judged by a panel of professional organization representatives such as EDUCAUSE, etc.

The recipient of the award (individual or group) will have exhibited an outstanding example of stewardship in spreading the use of MERLOT through-out the campus or system. Examples of actions or guidelines should be provided with one of the following results:

  • Evidence of diffusion of MERLOT

  • A means of demonstrating effectiveness of MERLOT
  • Nominations for this award are due January 31st for presentation at the MERLOT International Conference.
Those wishing to nominate should contact Cathy Swift for an application.
  • MERLOT House Cup is an award that was introduced for the 2007-2008 academic year.  The House Cup awards are awards to recognize the level of contributions made to the MERLOT collection during an academic year.  Contributions include Learning Materials submitted, Member Comments, Learning Assignments, Activity Sheets, and Personal Collections.  House Cups will be awarded to those who make the highest level of contributions for each of the following:

    • MERLOT Discipline Editorial Boards

    • MERLOT Academic Partners
