MERLOT RSS
RSS or Really Simple Syndication is a Web content syndication format. RSS files are based on XML. All RSS files must conform to the XML 1.0 specification. The latest version of the RSS format is RSS 2.0.
These files provide an open method of syndicating and aggregating Web content.
Using RSS files, you can create a data feed that supplies the latest materials from MERLOT that have been added, peer reviewed or top rated. MERLOT provides RSS feeds free of charge to anyone interested in showing syndicated MERLOT content on a web page. MERLOT retains full copyright on the information provided. Any display of MERLOT content must contain attribution to MERLOT. To find the RSS feeds for your discipline, go to http://www.merlot.org/merlot/rss.htm
How to Display MERLOT RSS Feeds
Since the server side of RSS has been set up to syndicate feeds, all you need to do is to have the XML content display. There are a few ways to achieve this:
- Write a script to convert the RSS content yourself, which is the most time consuming and difficult.
- Alternatively, there are many RSS clients also called as RSS Readers or News Readers, which greatly simplify the task, by providing Free Application Software to read the feeds. Following are the links to many such RSS Readers for Linux, Mac, and Windows platforms:
